One of the most overwhelming parts about moving to Barcelona is deciding where to live. Every neighborhood has its own vibeāsome are buzzy and energetic, others are local and slow-paced, and a few are perfect little hybrids. After spending months exploring every corner of the city, hereās my personal take on the best neighborhoods in Barcelona and which ones Iād actually live in long-term.
This isnāt a guide based on Google or real estate adsāitās what Iāve seen, lived, and loved firsthand.
1. Eixample ā Classic, Clean, and Super Central ā My Home Base
Eixample is beautiful. Wide boulevards, grid-like streets, modernist architecture, and a mix of bougie and everyday. There are hidden cafƩs, upscale shops, and the best rooftops tucked inside these blocks.
It feels grown-up but still has personalityāand depending on which part of Eixample youāre in, it can be peaceful or buzzing.
Vibe: aesthetic, central, everything-you-need
Would I live here? Yes, I already do. Itās clean, convenient, and has everythingāfrom gym to cafĆ©s to nightlife.
Pros: Central location, beautiful architecture, walkable, full of shops and cafƩs
Cons: Expensive, can feel busy, not super close to the beach Itās clean, convenient, and has everythingāfrom gym to cafĆ©s to nightlife.
2. Sant Antoni
If I had to pick one area that feels like me, itās Sant Antoni.
