Barcelona is filled with iconic landmarks like La Sagrada Familia and Park Güell, but what really makes this city magical are the lesser-known spots—the places tucked away from the crowds, where locals hang out and the real soul of the city comes to life. After spending months exploring every corner of Barcelona, I've rounded up my favorite hidden gems that deserve a spot on your itinerary.
If you’re tired of long lines and tourist-packed squares, this guide is for you. And while I’ll share a few of my favorite spots here, the full list of 13 spots is below. 🌟
1. Orient Express – Cocktail Bar with Old-World Charm
Step into a glamorous, vintage-inspired space that feels like you’ve been transported to a 1920s train carriage. This cocktail bar is tucked away in Eixample and known for its moody lighting, live jazz nights, and beautifully crafted drinks. It’s intimate, upscale, and perfect for a special night out.
2. Jardins de Mossèn Costa i Llobera – Cactus Garden with a View
Located on Montjuïc, this botanical garden is home to one of Europe’s largest collections of cactus and succulent plants. It’s almost always empty and has a stunning view of the sea.
3. Bunkers del Carmel – The Sunset Spot Locals Don’t Want You to Know About
Okay, this one isn’t a total secret anymore, but it's still worth the hike. With panoramic views over the entire city, it’s one of the best spots to watch the sunset. Bring snacks and go early to grab a good seat.
4. Rooftop at Hotel Colón – Vermut with a View
Right across from the Barcelona Cathedral, this rooftop is open to the public and has one of the most iconic views in the city. Order a vermut or cava and soak in the atmosphere. It’s best in the late afternoon before the dinner rush.
5. Funky Bakers Eatery – Stylish Brunch Spot
Located in El Born, Funky Bakers is the kind of spot you stumble into and instantly fall in love with. The menu is fresh, global, and creative—think Turkish eggs, shakshuka, and perfectly flaky pastries. The design is cozy yet modern, and the vibe is always buzzing.
